About Me

Hi, I’m Kaya! I started my pottery journey in my 2014 high school ceramics class where I absolutely fell in LOVE with clay. I continued making pottery as a hobby in college while studying Child Development. After graduating and between jobs, I decided to join the local ceramics studio. I ended up spending the same amount of time there as I would a full-time job. And now, it is my full-time job! I’ve been selling my work locally since 2020 and teaching classes since January 2022.

About Onyx

‘Mother of Onyx’ was started when I still had my cat, Onyx.

Onyx was quite possibly the coolest cat to ever live. In his young years, he was an escape artist. He would snake through people’s legs as they left the house and would rule the streets at night. Alpha of the neighborhood, if you will. He eventually “settled down” after moving with me to Chico for college (and finally getting fixed). He was the cat everyone LOVED even if they swore they hated cats. He would jump into the lap of any stranger sitting on the couch and expect you to start petting him. A realistic expectation, really.

This cat was a badass. Deaf? Yes. Could you tell? No. He was fearless. Especially once he could no longer hear the vacuum.

Onyx passed in April 2022 at 11 years old after using well over nine lives. He had FIV and kidney disease. Still a badass tho.
